EDCI-528 Extra Credit Webinar w/George Hanshaw

P3: People Performance Partnership About the Speaker: Dr. George Hanshaw Dr. Hanshaw is a performance psychology professional who has a doctorate in sport and performance psychology. He has worked with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics for more than 20 years. Dr. Hanshaw has transformed the "training" department during his time in Learning and Development. The department has moved from an organization that was being told what to do and deliver to an organization that is seen a partner in solving complex performance issues. My Take-Aways: I found Dr. Hanshaw's webinar very interesting in a lot of ways, in part because the Lockheed Martin projects he worked on were just plain cool! The content was also relevant to my course and career work. I really liked Dr. Hanshaw's overarching theme that it's all about creating partnerships to reach performance goals. It's so true! EDCI-528 Personal Inventory

How do you define HPT?  How does your current definition differ from what you wrote in week 1? Human Performance Technology (HPT) is  is the study of improving performance at an organizational level in order to develop and support a workforce that is aligned with the organization's vision and goals. Now she is the CEO of Barnes & Conti Associates, Inc of Berkeley, and independent leadership development firm.  She has more than 35 years of experience in consulting roles with a variety of organizations in multiple industries. Ms. Barnes has also written a number of non-fiction books, as well as a fictional corporate mystery. Ms. Barnes presented some compelling information about exercising influence, or as she said, "moving your ideas into action through others". She elaborated on a variety of topics related to influence including the elements of influence, Neuroscience, Influence Tactics, etc.  I found the information related to Neuroscience very interesting and tied in well with her discussion about relationships. It had never occurred to me to consider science in the factors that may influence HPT, but it makes perfect sense. Using a
